Obituary for Marjorie Amy Pettinato

Marjorie Amy Pettinato 90, of Missoula passed away Tuesday,
March 29, 2016 at St. Patrick Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1925 in Sidney, MT to Charles Ira and Retta (Cooley) Moffett.
As a young girl she lived on a farm outside of Glendive MT. She was homeschooled until 4th grade by her mother, who passed away when Marge was only seven. After, she attended a rural one room school house and at age 16, graduated from Dawson County High School.
Between the depression and the drought that lasted several years. Life was difficult on the farm. Marge was taken in by several local people while attending school and learned to earn her keep at an early age.
After high school, Marge went on to complete an Associate's Degree in Education. She then taught school for a year in another one room school house and then moved to Kalispell where she met the love of her life, Frank Pettinato. She married Frank on October 19, 1946.
Without complaint, Marge worked in order for Frank to continue his education. Eventually, the couple moved to Missoula and in 1956 adopted a baby boy Donald. In 1959, they adopted their second child, a baby girl who they named Loretta after Marge's mother Retta. Less than one year later, they purchased their first home, and lived in that house until both of their deaths.

Together, Marge and Frank teamed up to make the world a better place. There was always an extra person sharing their home and table. They contributed generously to a variety of charities with their time and money. Marge volunteered at many different organizations, including St. Patrick's Hospital, Friendship Force International and Christ the King Parish.
After retirement Marge and Frank spent several years traveling the world with Friendship Force . They kept a meticulous record of every country they visited and touched many lives along the way.
Marge was a kind and gentle soul who, with few words spoke volumes. Her humor was delivered as one liners with a straight face and a twinkle in her eye.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Frank. Survivors include her son, Donald (Mau), Tampa FL; her daughter Loretta (R. Scott) Duncan, Nine Mile; her brother Donald (Irene) Moffett, Fallon, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place in May or early June.
