Our beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend went into the loving arms of the Lord on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.
She was born in Billings on June 6, 1929, to Ben and Gladys Johnson. Marnie graduated from nursing school at Montana State University in 1951. She married Gene Howard in 1951, and in 1961 they moved from Billings to Missoula with their family.
She worked as a nurse at St. Patrick Hospital, Community Medical Center and Hillside Manor for several years, followed by 29 years at the University of Montana Health Service.
Marnie enjoyed the mountains of Montana, especially the grandeur of Glacier. With her love for the outdoors and children, she served as nurse for National Youth Sports Program and 40 years at the Montana Southern Baptist Family Camp.
She loved God, family and friends. All who knew her fell in love with her. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. Her favorite hobby was knitting Christmas stockings. These she distributed to family and friends around the world.
Marnie is survived by her daughter, Kathy; sons, David (Karen) and Ken; and granddaughter, Rachel.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ben and Gladys; brother, Wallace; and husband, Gene.
A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Convergence Ministries, 3020 South Ave. W., followed by a graveside service and a reception at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
We wish all of you to bring the Christmas stockings Marnie knitted for you as part of this celebration. Join us as we celebrate her life and "homegoing" into the presence of Jesus
