Obituary for Marilyn Gaines Kaphammer Denny

Marilyn Gaines Kaphammer Denny of Missoula passed away at home Friday January 16, 2015
She was born June 12, 1936 in Glasgow Montana to Evelyn and Jack Gaines.
As a young girl she graduated from high school in Corvallis Mt., then went on to get her teaching certificate from Western Montana College in Dillon Mt. from1954-56. She returned to school to get her Master's in Education from the University of
Montana in Missoula Mt., graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 1969.
Marilyn and Larry Kaphammer were married on Dec. 29, 1956 in Hamilton Mt. She
Married Jim Denny on June 16, 1984. She and Jim enjoyed traveling together to
China and Scotland, and many U.S. cities and states. She enjoyed dancing with the
Sons of Norway folk dancers. A highlight of dancing performances was the group doing
a guest performance at Disney World, in Orlando. She loved to read to all great
grandkids and spend time with her family. She very much liked to spend time
with her friends at Spirit of peace community, and Sons of Norway 424.
Marilyn was a master teacher, and especially enjoyed first graders.
She and Jim had a blended family of seven children: Steve Kaphammer,(Deb) of
Conrad, Mt., Kevin Kaphammer, (Melinda) of Missoula, Bryan Kaphammer,(Jackie), of Windsor Colorado, Lorie Kaphammer, of Missoula, James David Denny,(deceased) Denita Denny, of Monterey, Ca. and Tola Denny, of Spokane, Wa. Grand children are: Blaine, Andrea, Jordan, Peter, Jennifer, Kevin Copeland (deceased) Annie, Tony, Kelsie, Jenna, and Max.
Great grandchildren are: Zane, James, Cash, and Addie.
A Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, Feb.7, 2015, at Sunset Memorial
Gardens, 7405 Mullan Rd. Missoula, Mt. Condolences for the family may be left at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
