Jesus welcomed Marietta Fachner, age 95, to her heavenly home with Him on December 20, 2024. They are both rejoicing! She had been waiting for that moment for several years, and she finally experienced it!
Marietta was born in Culbertson, Montana, to Virgil and Stella Albert and joined her older brother and only sibling, Elston. When she was quite young, the family moved to Wolf Point, and Marietta grew up in a happy family.
While still in high school, Marietta met Arlin “Arlie” Fachner, and on December 21, 1947, when she was age 18, they married. They soon built a modest home in which they lived until 1984, when they moved to Missoula. At various times during her years in Wolf Point, Marietta worked for the Creamery, Farm Extension and The Fad, a men’s clothing store. Most of her energies, however, were focused of her family and serving her church.
Marietta’s first child, Penny, was born in December, 1953, and the second, son Wesley, was born in 1962. Penny married in 1973 and settled in Missoula soon after. Wesley attended the University of Montana, became a certified public accountant, met and married Cynthia Litfin and settled in San Jose, California, where he lived until his death in December, 2015.
When Arlie retired, he and Marietta moved to Missoula to be near their grandchildren. They led an active life between being very involved in the lives of their grandchildren and serving in their church, Christian Life Center.
Arlie passed away in March, 2015, and after living in the family home for several months, she moved to The Village Senior Residence, where she again made many friends while living in her independent-living apartment. In February, 2022, she transitioned to Beehive Homes, as she needed the benefits of assisted living, and she remained at the Beehive until her death. Her family want to express their gratitude to Beehive Homes for the excellent care that they provided her.
Marietta lived a quiet life of devotion to her Lord and to her family. She and Arlie made many cherished friends in Missoula and were faithful members at Christian Life Center.
Marietta’s faith in God was unshakeable, and she demonstrated that faith consistently, both in word and in deed. She influenced many, and in particular her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who themselves came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The effects of her lifelong ministry will be apparent for generations.
Marietta was predeceased by her husband, Arlie, and her son, Wesley. She is survived by Penny (David) Rodli, their children, Brett (Gabie), Scott (Eriko), Mark (Sunny) and Amy Rodli, her daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Wesley) Fachner and her son, Ethan Fachner, and her great grandchildren, Daniela (Nate) Hicks, Juliana Rodli, Eathan Rodli, Ella Rodli and Annie Rodli.
The family plans to conduct a private, family committal service under the arrangements of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory and will schedule a memorial service for Marietta in the spring of 2025. Details of the memorial service will be published at a later time.
We all believe that upon her entry to heaven, Marietta heard these words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
