Marie Barbara Chaffin, 86, passed away on the 6th of October in Missoula.
Born in Missoula on the 26th of December, 1931, she was the daughter of Nick and Rose Ivanoff and grew up on their small farm near Arlee, Montana. She enjoyed farm life learning to grow and preserve all the fruits, vegetables and meats for use in winter. She graduated from Arlee High School.
Marie was very active in the St. Anthony’s Altar Society for many years before she went to work for Pacific Hide and Fur as a bookkeeper until her retirement.
She enjoyed gardening especially her pots of flowers, baking and cooking. Marie was an excellent cook and was always happy to make big family meals. The club ladies loved to come over for lunches. She loved going on picnics and always found 4 leaf clovers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nick and Rose, brother Barney Ivanoff, grandson Gabriel Mulligan, husband Walter Wolf, husband Roy Chaffin and long-time companion Arvin Kleppen.
Survivors include a brother George Ivanoff, children; Walter Wolf, Julie Mulligan (Joe), Mike Wolf (Nancy), grandchildren; Rosie Zeiter (Victor), Robin Porter (Fritz), Rachel Mulligan and Ben Wolf; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Garden City Funeral Home on Thursday, October 11 from 5-7 pm with a Vigil service at 7pm. Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, October 12 at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
