MISSOULA – Margaret "Peggy" Varner, 62, of Missoula, passed away from cancer Monday, April 8, 2013.
Peggy was born to Margaret and Harry Woods March 4, 1951, in Anaconda. She attended and graduated from Butte High School. On Nov. 17, 1973, Peggy married Richard Varner in Butte. They then moved to Missoula in 1978.
Peggy volunteered at Hellgate Elementary School during her children's grade school days. She then attended cosmetology school and was a hairdresser for many years. She later went to work for First Interstate Bank as an administrative assistant loan processor. In 2009, she was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a stem cell transplant.
She was active in Relay for Life, enjoyed bowling and rooted for the Grizzlies. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and friend to everyone.
She will be missed by her husband, Rich; daughter, Allison; son, Richie (Windy); grandkids, Kayden, Aspen and Parker; brother, Bob (Janice) Woods; sisters, Betty Slagle, Carol Woods, Karen (Ralph) Niland, Janet (Manuel) Madrid, Terri (Dee'O) Whitehead; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Woods; and father, Harry Woods.
Pallbearers include her siblings, Betty Slagle, Carol Woods, Karen Niland, Janet Madrid and Bob Woods.
Viewing will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with reception and burial to follow all at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Montana Cancer Society or Lady of the Rockies.
