Obituary for Margaret Marie "Margie" Slaght

Margaret "Margie" Marie Slaght was born on October 14, 1927 in Helmville MT to John and
Mary Hamilton. She grew up on a small ranch on Blackfoot River, spending her days making
fond memories of times spent with her six brothers.
On May 21, 1948 Margie married Morris Slaght. They lived and worked on various ranches in the
Helmville / Ovando areas raising their 3 children, Linda, Emily and Wayne. After the kids were
raised and on their own, you could find her enjoying her summer days helping Morris put up
the hay on the Rolling Stone Ranch in Ovando. Winters found her content in her home,
creating beautiful hand embroidered quilts - she told us she made around 75 during her
lifetime. One of those special treasures, each of her children, grandchildren, great
grandchildren & numerous others were blessed to receive.
During her time spent in the Blackfoot Valley she enjoyed visiting with friends & family, she was
active in the local women's clubs, served on the election boards and was an active 4-H leader
and volunteer for years.
In 1989, she and Morris retired to the Missoula area, moving later to Florence and after Morris'
death in 1994, Margie moved back to Missoula. There she spent time enjoying her yard, visiting
with neighbors and relatives, shoveling snow and continuing to stitch those beautiful quilts.
When asked where it is she would like to travel. ... she said without hesitating, she just enjoyed
her own backyard best!
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, and 5 of her brothers, Vernon, Grant, Spike, Bob
and Melvin. She is survived by her brother Jack (June) Hamilton of Thompson Falls, daughters
Linda McDermott of Prescott Arizona, Emily (Richard) Hansmann of Pendroy MT, and Son,
Wayne (Karalee) Slaght of Ovando MT and her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandsons.

Viewing will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A Funeral for Margie will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home in Missoula followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
