Mamie F. Vasser passed away April 26, 2016 at The Village in Missoula, MT. She was born in Hedgesville, Montana to Sydney Victor and Alma Irwin Hall March 26, 1922. The sixth of ten children, Mamie was surrounded by lots of family who lived all over the country. When she married Lloyd "Randy" Ness in 1940 they spent a few years in California while he was in the Navy and she worked for the war effort. During their marriage she fostered 13 children, had two sons who died in infancy and lovingly raised her two children, Troy and Karen.
In future years she married the love of her life, Bob Vasser. They spent many Montana years lake fishing and pulling water skiers, riding snowmobiles, and dancing and promoting dances at the Senior Citizens Center and Orchard Homes Country Club. Her favorite times were the almost annual family reunions at Lolo Hot Springs or other locations when her two children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces, and as many as 100 relatives would gather together for the three-day celebration of their huge family.
In her 94 years she lost 8 brothers and sisters, survived only now by her "lil brover" Sydney Hall (wife Jackie) in Sun City, AZ. Her four sisters, twin brothers and two other brothers, her father and mother as well as former husbands Bob Cramer, Randy Ness, and Bob Vasser preceded her in death.
Surviving her also are her son, Troy Ness (wife Dolly) of Newport, Oregon, daughter Karen Branstetter (husband Jere) of Sun City, Arizona, three grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mamie was an avid card player who taught everyone the tricks of winning Uno and Kings Corners in her "castle" on 4th street. Her nephew Bill Walker and his wife Jean lit up her life even when she could no longer see the cards but still kept winning, as did her loving neighbor Wendy Ramsey. They are hugely responsible for making her life so much better in her later years. Another debt of gratitude goes to Annette Taylor for all she did for Mamie.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 9, 2pm at the Orchard Homes club where so many celebrations were held that Mamie was a part of. Family and friends are invited to say goodbye at that time.
