Lynda was born on Dec. 5, 1957, in Livingston, the second child of Armand and Agnes (Sandsness) Johnson. She started first grade at Hellgate Grade School in Missoula, where she learned first and foremost how to make a friend and to be a friend. Lynda and her friends and classmates were the challenge of more than just their music teacher Ms. Geraldine Watson (Curry) and throughout the years delighted everyone with stories of their antics – especially Lynda and Teresa Kimmel.
She married Grady "Jake" Woirhaye on April 18, 1981, and they raised their children Ryan (during summers), Joshwa and Karensa in Potomac. Jake and Lynda were very involved in community activities in Potomac and high school sports with Ryan in Darby, and Josh and Karensa at Hellgate High School in Missoula.
Jake was a "good saw" (sawyer/tree-faller) and preceded Lynda in death on a "date night," Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, when he was struck by a snag while sawing on Daisy Creek in the Blackfoot Valley.
Lynda had many gifts and hobbies, which included sewing, quilting, cross stitching, reading, traveling and planning trips, photography and making photo albums, and most recently Norwegian Rosemaling and learning Norwegian language through the Sons of Norway in Missoula. Most of what she made was lovingly gifted to and received by others.
She worked at Electronic Data Systems Service Corporation in Santa Barbara, California, Hoerner Waldorf/Champion International Frenchtown Mill, the Missoulian, Bob Ward & Sons, National Car Rental, Quality Supply, and for 20 years at Community Medical Center Rehab. Many of the friendships she enjoyed have continued throughout her life.
Surviving Lynda are her parents, Armand and Agnes Johnson; sisters, Lanell (Jerome, "Bobo") Curry and Marcy (Ken) Doughty; brother Kenton (Pam) Johnson; stepson Ryan Woirhaye; son Joshwa (Amber) Woirhaye; daughter Karensa Woirhaye; grandsons, Jakob Woirhaye and Wyatt Woirhaye; granddaughter Ashlyn Woirhaye; nephews, Michael (Amy) Brault and Mitchell Johnson; nieces, Alicia (Jason) Brault Felix, Ashlie (Jerry) Johnson Dvorak and Hanna Doughty; great-nephews, Stryker Felix and Daniel Dvorak; Jake's brothers and sisters and their families. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends and their families.
Lynda went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Garden City Funeral Home, at the intersection of Broadway and Mullan.
There has never been a better friend in all the world than Lynda. Her smile and her laughter lit many a room and a life and will never be forgotten.
