Luanne Hintz, 70, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024 after a long illness, Her husband, Jay, and her son, Danny (Blowers), were with her until her last breath. Luanne was deeply loved by her family and many close friends. Her family was the center of her world. We will miss her generous spirit, her kind heart, and her infectious smile.
Luanne, born in Missoula, was the youngest child of Judge Jack and Pat Green. She attended Paxson Elementary School and Hellgate High School. After her high school graduation she worked for congressman Dick Shoup in Washington, DC. She also lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as Seattle, Washington. When her beloved son Danny was born in 1977 she returned to her hometown of Missoula. She worked at Two Rivers Bank for many years, where she had the reputation of being an astute business woman There she was known for her friendliness, her wisdom, and her mentoring skills.
Luanne married the love of her life, Jay Hintz in 1999. They enjoyed being together, whether it be throwing darts, observing Montana wildlife, being at Flathead Lake, or driving in the mountains. Luanne was talented in crafts, and loved to share them with others, whether it was leading “Craft Night” at the bank or making holiday crafts for her grandchildren. She created and decorated unique bird houses, and enjoyed watching all the different birds in her yard. Luanne was a skilled seamstress who sewed intricate and beautiful quilts, each one reflecting the interests of the friends and family to whom they were gifted. She was a voracious reader and was often at the used book store or home relaxing in her chair reading her Kindle. Her love of flowers and gardening was legendary. Her yard was full of colorful planters and flower beds, which she tended with care. Luanne had many friends, and the birthday luncheons with “the girlfriends” were always a highlight of her month. In the past few years she especially enjoyed puzzles, quiz shows, and the Hallmark channel. On Saturdays you could find Luanne cheering on the Griz as she watched them from the comfort of her living room.
What was most important in Luanne’s life was her family. She was so proud of Danny and his many accomplishments, and loved her daughter-in- law Molly. Her grandson Kaden and granddaughter Brynn were the joy of her life. They called her “Grandma Neigh,” because of her passion for horses and the outdoors. She created many loving and fun memories for them such as treasure hunts at Easter, or a month of Advent gifts before Christmas. She and Jay often braved the cold as they loved watching Kaden play hockey and baseball.
Luanne was predeceased by her brother Jack L. Green II in 2023. She is survived by her sister Susie (Richard, Alexandria, VA). Luanne and Susie considered each other best friends, and they both felt so fortunate to have each other. She is also survived by her niece Jessica (Alex, Atlanta, GA) and great-nephews Eli and Liam, her sister-in-law Kori Green, niece Laura, great niece Ann, nephew Jack, and the Hintz family, who took Luanne into their family with great pride. Luanne’s kindness, her loving and giving nature, her sense of humor, and love of family brought great joy to all those who knew her. Her spirit lives on in our hearts. She will be forever missed.
