Obituary for Louis H Dryden

Louis “Lou” Dryden ,79, passed away August 16, 2017 peacefully at home with his wife Barbara
at his side. Lou was born on March 28th 1938 to Gerald and Dorothy Dryden in Grass Valley,
Oregon. He spent his growing up years in small towns in the Northwest where his parents were in the ministry. Graduated from Lincoln County High School in Eureka Montana. He enjoyed the outdoors so he spent several years working for the Forest Service in Montana. He operated his own gas station in E.Glacier Montana. He worked on an oil drilling rig and even worked as a real cowboy on a Montana cattle ranch. When the work got hard to find he decided to move to Seattle. While there he went to work for the Boeing Co., and met his wife to be while attending
The Renton First Baptist Church. After 5 years in Redmond they moved to Cashmere. They were married 48 years. During the 30 + years living in Cashmere, Lou developed his gentle leadership skills and was always a team player. He worked with youth and adults in the Cashmere Baptist Church and the Cashmere community. He was active in Toastmasters,Kiwanis,
Chamber of Commerce, raised funds and helped build the community floats, and was also parade director for the Founders Day parades several years. He was chosen Cashmere Citizen of the Year and was an integral part of the operations of the Chelan County Fairgrounds for many years.
Lou and Barbara enjoyed driving and displaying their 1923 Chevy Coupe in activities with the Wenatchee Antique Auto Club and went on several National Vintage Cheverolet Club 4 cylinder
Tours.
In retirement Lou had his own self publishing business helping others to publish their own books.
After Barbara retired, they bought a motor home and started a ten year adventure traveling throughout the West.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Stuart Dryden.
Survivers include his wife Barbara, and two sister-in-laws Virginia Dryden and Beverly Herrick
as well as several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at the Cashmere Baptist Church 103 Aplets Way Cashmere,WA September 23, 2017 from 2-4:30 p.m. Pastor Bob Bauer will lead the service. Burial will be in a family plot of the Cove Oregon cemetery. Donations can be given to the Cancer Society. Condolences can be left at www.gardencityfh.com
