Obituary for Louie Raymond McNair

Louie Raymond McNair 86, passed away Sunday, July 28 2013 in Missoula.
Louie was born in Floydada Texas on February 1, 1927 to Walter and Lou McNair. He spent his early years in Texas, Oklahoma and California before joining the Army. After being honorably discharged he lived in Oregon briefly, but eventually settled in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Louie spent many years working as a card dealer. It was during his time at the Golden Nugget Casino that he met Dorothy Nankervis. They fell in love and were married on March 20, 1960.
As Las Vegas began to grow, Louie and Dorothy looked for a better place to raise their growing family. In 1975 they purchased The Brown Derby restaurant and moved to Georgetown Lake.
Through hard work and determination, Louie and Dorothy built a very successful business. They built a number of strong friendships too and were well known to all those in the Georgetown Lake community.
Louie loved spending time with his family and friends; especially his brothers and special friends Dr. John "Doc" Cunningham, Bill "The Greek" Crncevich, and Pat "Red Pat" Connors. Together they enjoyed countless hunting and fishing trips. His family enjoyed hearing the stories of these adventures almost as much as he enjoyed telling them.
In his later years he enjoyed spending time with Dorothy and his grandchildren. He had special relationships with all his grandchildren. He was passing his love of hunting onto his grandson Keegan. The past few summers he would spend hours outside his lake home hunting gophers with Keegan and sharing his stories. Picking raspberries with his granddaughter Jayden was their special pastime. Baseball was Louie's favorite sport; he enjoyed watching games with his grandson Nolan. One week before he passed away, he was able to watch Nolan pitch in an all-star tournament. He was very proud of Eileen and Liam's Judo, watching tournaments when he went to Los Angeles when he visited. His grandson Matthew lived near him in Las Vegas during his final years, he was able to spend time with him and his great-grandson Ryan.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, brothers Van, Huey, and sister Patricia. He is survived by his daughters Terri of Las Vegas, Toni (Joe) McCaffery and their children Jayden, Keegan and Nolan of Missoula, sons Ray (Kim) their son Matthew and great grandson Ryan of Las Vegas, Dan (Kumiko) and their children Eileen and Liam of Claremont California and Shawn of Las Vegas. Brothers Gene (Ruth), Jim and Don (Ruth). Sisters Nell, Doris (Gary) and Judy (John). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 10:30a.m. Memorials are requested to Discovery House of Anaconda. Sunset Funeral Home of Missoula is assisting with the arrangements.
