Obituary for Lori Marler Stavish

Lori (Marler) Stavish passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, following a brave 18-month battle with cancer. Born in Butte on July 8, 1960, Lori was raised in small towns across Montana before graduating high school in Drummond. To pursue her love of numbers, Lori attended Great Falls Commercial College to study accounting.

With her first marriage came her son Chris Dixon. He became her sole focus and brought her much joy. In 1993, she married Greg Stavish, and they were blessed with two daughters, Victoria (Tori) and Vanessa. Lori's greatest joys were her children's sporting events and would often be found cheering "embarrassingly loud" in the stands with the other moms. She also enjoyed family camping trips, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and scrapbook weekends with "the ladies."

She is survived by her husband Greg; children, Chris, Tori and Vanessa; parents Dallas and Nancy Marler; brothers, Rick (Cindy) and Mark (Sam); sister Polly (Gary) Knuchel; Greg's parents Ray and Karen Stavish; brothers-in-law Pat (Marie) and Jeff; sisters-in-law Brenda (John) Garren and Roxanne (L.B.) Ross; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lori's name to the Watson Children's Center.

Special thanks to Partners Hospice for the wonderful care given during Lori's last days at home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Frenchtown at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 21, with recitation of the rosary at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in a private service.
