Lonnie Douglas "Doug" Young, 70, took his final ride on life's highway Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015. He passed away peacefully in his home in Missoula.
At his request, no service will be held. The family will hold a memorial in late spring.
Doug, born Sept. 17, 1944, was a truck driver most of his life. As he takes this last ride down life's highway, he will be remembered lovingly by his surviving family and many friends. Doug always had a good joke to tell that brought a smile to your face and a twinkle to your eye. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he wasn't behind the wheel of a semi. He worked many years for U&R Express out of Missoula, also for Jack Long Logging, Baltruesch Trucking and was a mechanic at Bourquin's in Missoula and Davidson's Exxon in Hamilton.
Survivors include his two daughters from his first marriage, Becky Hayden of Caldwell, Idaho, and Tammy Craft of Victor; his sisters, Betty Harris and Sharon McCauley, both of Missoula, and Patti Coughlin of Deer Lodge; a brother, Jack Young of Butte; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Doug was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lionel and Edna (Welling) Young; one son, infant boy Young; and two brothers, Curtis Young and Robert Young, both of Deer Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Red Cross of America, 2401 N. Reserve St., Missoula, MT 59808.
