Linda was born August 10, 1950 to Walter T. and Velma J. Johns, in Missoula, Montana.
She attended school at Lowell Elementary until the 5th grade, when the family moved to Evaro Hill. She graduated high school from Frenchtown High in 1968.
She worked various jobs, over the years; cleaning, cooking, motel management, apartment management, grocery clerk and meat cutter are a few.
In 1985 she married Thomas C. Butler in Missoula and they moved to Iowa where they resided until August of 2010, when they moved back to Montana. They have since resided in Frenchtown until her passing on November 21, 2014, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Linda is survived by her husband Thomas, a sister Judy (John) McKinney of Frenchtown, Mt., a brother Steven of Seattle, WA., her mother Velma Johns of Missoula, six step children; Penni Sylvester (Dennis) of Green acres, WA, James Butler of WA., Tommy Butler, Tim (Lexi) Butler, Larry (Teddy) Butler, Robert (Deb) Butler all of Missoula, Niece LaVon (Mike) McVey, grand nieces Kayla and Brianna McVey of Frenchtown and Nephew Stephen (Rachel) Habets, and their son Jon, of Frenchtown, step grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, a step grandchild and some of her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A special thanks to Dr. Scott, and the oncology nurses who cared for Linda, as well as the Partners Hospice staff who also took such loving care of Linda and her family in her final hours.
As per her wishes, she has been cremated. A graveside service will be at Sunset Memorial Garden on Monday, December 1st, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A gathering for family and friends will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Hillside Manor, 4720 23rd Avenue in Missoula.
