Obituary for Lillian M Olmstead

Lillian “Lill” Olmstead, 88, passed away on Mon. Nov. 14th at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes. Lill was born on Sept. 4, 1928 in Missoula to Neal and Hilma (Nelson) Montelius. She graduated from Missoula High School and later attended Nursing School in Missoula. Lill married Delbert “Del”Olmstead on Aug. 30, 1947 in Butte, MT, together they had four children; later they were divorced.
Lill truly enjoyed being home with her family but also worked at St. Patrick Hospital as an aide and as a sales associate for Woolworth’s. She loved going to rummage sales, where she would get every tea pot she could find. She also enjoyed going to Bingo with her sister, embroidery, ceramics, baking cookies and in her younger years she would go hunting with her boys and fishing with her family on weekends at Rock Creek. One of the highlights of her life was attending her 50 year high school reunion in 1996. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished her time with her family and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, sister Lorraine Wood, sons Richard and David Olmstead and a grandson, Jonathan Olmstead. She is survived by her daughter Debora (Stan) Logan of Missoula; son Douglas Olmstead of Livermore, CA; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sat. Nov. 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Garden City Funeral Home with a reception immediately following.
