Obituary for Leora May Kirchner

Leora May Kirchner, 84, of Missoula, left our world to join her beloved husband on the anniversary of his death Sunday, March 16, 2014, at her home due to natural causes.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1929, to Loren and Florence Hines in Tulare, Calif. She was raised in different areas in eastern Montana with her six brothers and sisters.

On Dec. 23, 1948, she married the love of her life, Leroy (Frosty) Kirchner in Reno, Nev. After Leroy's honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, they returned to the Ninemile valley to make their home and raise their four children, Dennis, David, Lloyd and Lorna. They remained in Ninemile until Leroy's health forced them to move to Missoula, where she remained for 23 years.

Mom was a very strong, determined, caring person and enjoyed her total independence until her health forced her to stop doing everything by herself. She was not one to ask for help from anyone, nor wanted to intrude on anyone's life for her benefit. She loved us all, unconditionally. Words cannot express our love for her.

Leora was preceded in death by her husband Leroy; her parents Loren and Florence Hines; and her brothers, Floyd and Leon Hines.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Kirchner of Redwood City, Calif., Dave and wife Janet Kirchner of Hamilton, Lloyd Kirchner of Frenchtown and Lorna and husband Craig Buss of Missoula; grandchildren, Jason Kirchner and Tony Buss both of Missoula; brothers, Leo of Orofino, Idaho, Bill (Joanne) of Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters, Patsy (Pete) Clausen of Helena, Betty Miller of Lewistown and several nieces and nephews.

Very special thanks goes to Rocky Mountain Hospice, Lisa Gibb, Janet Kirchner and Tami Adams for all the care, love and support they gave Mom in her final months. Words cannot express our feelings for all that each of you have contributed to Mom's comfort in her final months.

Per Leora's request, cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned.
