On Wednesday, June 7, 2017, Leo Dufresne was called home to the Lord. Leo was born on Sept. 9, 1923, to Armond and Louise Dufresne in Milltown. He attended Bonner grade school and Missoula County Public School. Leo graduated in 1943 and joined the Navy that summer to proudly serve his country. He served on the USS North Carolina during WWII and finished his commitment to service on the USS Kona in England and France.
Leo was a quiet man of few words, but very loving and caring to all. His biggest and most devoted fan is his sister Ada Kelly, that remained by his side throughout life. Also by his side was his beloved wife Theola Dufresne. They married on Dec. 22, 1945. For almost 72 years she took care of Leo, keeping him at home up until the last few days. The bond they shared was amazing to all.
Leo and Theola had three sons. Family was very important to him and time was often spent hunting, fishing, camping and simply spending time together. Following the grandkids sports was also a favorite past time.
Leo was a very hard worker and took a great deal of pride in every task at hand. He worked at Clawson Manufacturing, the Anaconda Company and Bonner School from where he retired in 1985.
Leo was preceded in death by brother Louis Dufresne and sister Dora Bosepflug.
Survivors include his sister Ada Kelley, wife Theola, sons Larry (Mary Ann), Jerry (Maggie), Duane (LeAnn); grandchildren Shane, Joby, Guy and Bobbie; great-grandchildren Jaiden, Damen, Hailey, Maddie, Katie and Korey. Nieces and nephews: Louis and Judy Dufresne, Dale and Kathie Dufresne, Jacquie and Frank Gebhardt, Rohn and June Kohler and Michael Kohler.
An open house will be held at Mick and Bobbie Waletzko's for close friends and family on Wednesday, June 14, from 2 to 7 p.m.
