Pete Masterson, 61, of Missoula, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2017.
He was born June 1, 1955 to Len Robert Masterson and Shirley Ann Murray. Pete was the only boy of five siblings. He was raised and educated in the Bitterroot Valley. He loved to spend time at the home of his beloved aunt and uncle, Bill and Elsie, and thought of his cousins like siblings. The boys were often found together working their grandparents’ land, go-kart racing, hunting and causing mischievous behavior-Montana boys born and bred.
He married his first wife, Anita Ferrell, in 1975. The couple had a daughter, Shannon. He married his second wife, Susan Hocker, in 1981. He eventually adopted her children, Tammy and Shane, in 1981. The couple had a daughter, Brandy in 1982.
He was a hard worker who worked most of his life in the mill industry from Darby to Missoula. For nearly 30 years, he worked at Roseburg Forest Products, forging lasting friendships that he treasured.
Pete was a loving father and he also loved everything that Montana had to offer. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, motor sports and restoring cars. It has been said that he could fix just about anything.
Survivors include his children, Tammy Masterson of Las Vegas, Shane Masterson of Cutbank, Shannon Masterson of East Helena and Brandy Masterson of Las Vegas; his three grandchildren, Kindra, Darian and Chloe; three sisters, Ann, Cynthia and Camilia; cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial reception will be held in the Garden City Funeral Home Community Room from 2-4pm Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Please come and share your special memories and photos of Pete with his friends and family. He was a true original who lived the life he wanted to live.
