Lawrence Lewis Rasmussen passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home of natural causes at the age of 90. Lawrence was born July 11, 1925, in Missoula to Gladys and Lewis Rasmussen. He was raised most of his life in Missoula.
He attended Lowell Elementary Grade School and Missoula County High School, graduating in 1944.
He met the love of his life Helen and married in 1951. They raised four children, two daughters and two sons. They enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, National Parks and other sites. He retired in 1983 after working 32 years at the State Unemployment (Job Service) Office.
He entered the service during the Korean War. During his service he demonstrated his pride for his country which carried to his everyday life. He belonged to the American Legion for 61 years where he served as Legion Commander and Honor Guard. He was a Life member VFW and Masonic Lodge 13.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Rasmussen (2014); mother Gladys Fuller Rasmussen (1977); father Lewis M Rasmussen (1962); sister Marylou Cook (2003) and husband Curtis Cook (2011).
Survived by daughters, Janeille Rasmussen of Chicago and Val Masters (Earl) of Nine Mile; sons, Mike (Harriett) of Stevensville and Tim (Pam) of Kennewick, Washington.
At his request no services will be held. Burial will be part of the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to a charity of your choice.
Cremation is under care of Cremation & Burial Society of the Rockies. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at missoulafuneralhomes.com.
