Obituary for Lawremce Lee "Larry" Flachmeyer

– Lawrence Lee "Larry" Flachmeyer, 65, of Frenchtown, passed away at St. Patrick Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, after a motorcycle accident. Larry was born on July 7, 1950, in Anaconda. When he was 4-years-old, he was adopted by his grandparents, William and Naomi Flachmeyer.

Larry enlisted in the Marines on Oct. 2, 1967, and was honorably discharged on Sept. 10, 1973. While serving as a Marine, he fought in the Vietnam War and was awarded, not only a Purple Heart, but a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with 2 stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and a Combat Action Ribbon with the Marksmans badge.

Larry met Teresa Farlow August 1979. They married Feb. 14, 1986, and divorced after 17 years of marriage on Feb. 5, 2003. They had two daughters, Erin and Emmily. Larry spent his remaining two years with his partner, Lucy Barney and her family, who considered him their own.

He enjoyed hunting, cooking, camping, watching action movies, playing cards, horseback riding and motorcycles.

Larry is survived by two daughters, Erin and Emmily, both of Great Falls; one granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Ellen and Rita; many cousins and his partner, Lucy.

A Memorial Service will be held at Missoula Bible Church, 4455 Highway 10 W., Missoula, on Saturday, Aug. 22, at noon.
