Obituary for LaVon Fausett

14 hours ago(0) CommentsMISSOULA – LaVon Fausett, 83, died peacefully in her Missoula home on Monday, May 6, 2013, after gracefully enduring congestive heart failure for several years.

LaVon was born Nov. 9, 1929, in the family home in Edna, Kan., to Roy Douglas and Grace LaVon (Johnson) DeMott. Her childhood years were filled with happy memories in Labette Co., Kan., having a very close relationship with both sets of grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. As a young teenager, LaVon came to make Montana her home and attended Missoula County High School, where she met her lifelong best friend and husband-to-be, Donald Archie Fausett .

Don and LaVon were married May 23, 1946, and began a wonderful life together of love and service to their family, friends and community. They cared for 22 foster children over the years, as well raising their own two children. Throughout the years, LaVon enjoyed being a wife, mother, foster mother, Blue Bird leader, Cub Scout leader, 4-H leader, PTA member, family business partner, Sunday school teacher, election judge – and especially grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma!

LaVon loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed watching sunrises and sunsets. She loved the old gospel songs. Music was a special part of her life – from a very young age singing with her grandparents in church with her grandfather playing the piano, to singing in high school and church choirs, to singing silly, fun songs with Don on family road trips, to enjoying the happy sounds of her large posterity singing together and enjoying one another's company in her later years.

In 1996, Don and LaVon took their dream "trip of a lifetime" to the Holy Land, where they toured Israel, London, Athens and Cairo – one of her most precious and joyous memories!

Don died in 2008, and LaVon has been looking forward to joining him. They are survived by their children, Doug (and Tina) Fausett and Linda (and Gene) McFarland; 17 grandchildren; more than 40 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends who greatly love and miss them!

LaVon requested there be no funeral service, but family and friends will be remembering her and Don at gatherings and picnics this summer – and always!
