Kenneth Allen Shatto, age 60, passed away unexpectedly in his home of natural causes on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016.
Ken was born to June and Delmer Shatto on Nov. 28, 1955, in Emmetsgburg, Iowa.
In 1965, the family made their way to Montana. Ken attended Lowell grade school and Hellgate High School. Being a free spirit, at age 18 he moved to Seattle. He made a home there until 1993, when his mother died suddenly. At that time he moved back to Missoula to be close to his father and other family.
Ken went back to school and got a degree in engineering. He selflessly put his career on hold to act as a support system for his father and brother Jeff during his illness.
He worked in the kitchen at St. Patrick Hospital for several years before moving to BioMedical Engineering in 2014.
Ken had a passion for art and music including playing the guitar and attending concerts. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fly fishing especially. He also liked reading, history and he was an excellent cook. He shared his passion and hobbies freely with family and friends.
Ken was known for his honesty, hard work, friendly attitude and kind spirit. We will miss his quiet, thoughtful demeanor and his sense of humor. He believed you get out of life what you contribute and he lived his life with zest and appreciation.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents June and Delmer; brother Jeff Shatto of Missoula and sister Dixie Smith of Minnesota.
He is survived by his sister Kathy Haddick(Gale) of Polson ,Susan Haberkon (Don) of New Mexico, Karen Hines (Ron) of Colorado, Monica Shatto (Ron) of Missoula and brother Ron Shatto (Holly) of Kalispell; brother-in-law Verlyn Smith of Minnesota and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place but the family is planning no service at this time. a celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
Family suggests memorials to be sent to St. Patrick Hospital Foundation Compassion Fund.
