Obituary for June L. Allen

June L. Allen passed away November 11, 2015 after a brief illness.

She was born at St. Martens, Wisconsin June 16, 1926 to Alvin and Isabelle Fisher. She grew up and went to school in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. In May 1943, she married Donald W. Allen at Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. In July of that year, Donald was drafted into the Army while June went to work at J.I. Case Company where the company also contributed to the war effort. In January 1944, she gave birth to her daughter Kathleen. She went back to work until Donald came home from the army December 7, 1945. Then in March 1947, Donald Jr. was born and July 1949, Timothy was born.

She worked at a bakery in Waterford, Wisconsin to help make ends meet and had saved some money away to purchase their first home on the Fox River in Waterford. In June of 1966, the nest was empty so she and Donald moved to Montana where they had vacationed in previous years. She loved to go "hunting" for elk and deer with Donald. That is probably where she started to enjoy painting with acrylics and oil. She had taken some classes in Missoula, Montana and also watched a program on tv that taught artist tricks. She entered a few of her paintings in the local fair in Missoula and won first prize on several occasions. She also won first prize on her cross stitching. June was so very talented in painting, sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, and I can't leave out fishing. She also beat Donald in the biggest fish!

June was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son Donald Jr killed in Vietnam, son Timothy with M.S. , her brother, Marvin Fisher, and great grandson Kyle Kissinger. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Bender, daughter-in-law Janice, five grandchildren, Bridgette Bender, Brenda Effinger, Debbie Dietz, Heather Olean, Jerod Allen, and ten great-grandchildren. Sunset Memorial Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Condolences for June's family may be left at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
