Julie Ann Haugland Beckel

Julie Beckel, 66, of Missoula, took her last breath on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 with her husband Michael by her side.

She was born on Feb. 9, 1950 to Adolph and Vernis Haugland in Sparta, Wisconsin. She loved Wisconsin, specifically the Green Bay Packers, and UW. She had nursing in her soul, and started her career as early as she could volunteering as a "candy striper" at 14 years old in the small hospital in Sparta and continued following her path and became an RN. Julie and Mike met at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She and Michael were married on August 31, 1974 in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Later they went on a trip to Montana to visit cousins, fell in love with it here, packed their belongings and started their life in the Big Sky. Julie had a passion for helping others, whether it was in her career or on the side, her true calling was to make others smile.

She was thrilled when she got to be a grandma, and took that "job" seriously, spoiling her grandkids with anything and everything, their hearts desired.

Julie's survivors include her husband, Michael R. Beckel, her brother & wife Steven and Linda Haugland of Plymouth, Minnesota, her daughter & son-in-law Jenessa and Anthony DeRosa and their children, Dominic, Zander, Adalyn and Reilly.

A reception celebrating Julie’s life will be held at Garden City Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m.
