Obituary for Judith Hofferber

Judith Beverly Hofferber, 79, passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2016 at her home in Missoula, surrounded by her loving family. Judith was born on April 2, 1937 in Billings, Montana to William and Leah Michel. Judith was raised in the Billings area and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1955.
She married LeRoy (Lee) Hofferber on September 7th 1957 and they moved to Bozeman, Montana where Lee attended school at Montana State University (MSU). After Lee’s graduation in 1960, they moved to Glendive and later to Miles City before moving to Missoula in 1966, where they raised their three children.
Judith had a strong Christian faith, was a devout lifelong Lutheran and was an active member of First Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Women Missionary League and enjoyed her monthly circle meetings where fellowship and the word of God was shared with her sisters in Christ.
Judith loved her family very much and enjoyed watching her children’s and grandchildren’s’ school and sporting events and all other activities they were involved in.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Michel. Judith is survived by her husband Lee; daughter Lori (Stephen) Moody of Lolo; daughter Karen (Ken) Madden of Missoula; and son Pastor Mark Hofferber (Kristi) of Bethalto, Illinois; granddaughters Leah (Josh) Doherty; Lindsay Madden and Kelsey Hofferber; grandsons Bryan Gardner, David Gardner and Nathan Hofferber. She is also survived by two great granddaughters; Emma and Adelyn Doherty and her brother Tom Michel of Colorado and sister in law Bobbi Michel of Billings.
Even though Judith’s greatest loves are for her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she had a special place in her heart for the MSU Bobcats and her endeared Bobcat family.
The family would like to thank the Partners in Home Care Hospice Unit for their support and compassionate care for Judith through her time of need until the time she left for her heavenly home. We would also like to thank Fresenius Medical Care staff for the compassionate care she received and the dignity shown to her during her dialysis treatment sessions.
Memorials may be donated to the First Lutheran Classical School or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The visitation will take place Wednesday night at the Garden City Funeral Home between the hours of 4pm to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am June 30th, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, at 2808 South Ave West, Missoula, MT, with a luncheon to follow.
