JUANITA YVONNE SVINGEN
Juanita Y. Svingen passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at her home in Missoula. She was born December 10, 1920, in Wolf Point, Montana, to Harry P. and Mildred C. Wood. The family moved to Glasgow, MT., where she shared a happy childhood with her sisters, Phyllis and Maxine. After graduating from Glasgow High School she married Perry N. Svingen. When WW1I ended, they settled in Great Falls, where they raised their family of three daughters. After twenty years, Nita and Perry decided to end their marriage; however family ties were maintained for the remainder of their lives.
After retiring as a stenographer from the Great Falls Police department, Nita moved to Missoula, where she lived until venturing to Mesa, AZ, where she lived for 15 years. Nita loved the lifestyle that the warm weather offered: swimming, bike riding and going to dances with her friends. In 2007 Nita moved back to Missoula where she lived at Burlington Square, the Bee Hive and the last year with her daughter and family. She was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Mildred and Harry Wood, and sisters, Phyllis Morigeau and Maxine Brewer. Nita is survived by her daughters, Janet Adair (Paul), Northport, N.Y.; Joyce Lewis (Bill), Missoula, MT.; Judy Cosgrove (Richard) Salt Lake City, UT.; grandchildren Pen and Paul, Danielle, and Matt and Amber; great-grandchildren, Cassie, Pat, Victoria; Noah, Caleb, Wyatt and Lucas, and great-great grandson, Leonardo.
The family would like to thank Mark, Linda, Vicki, Anna, Penny, Sami and Justin of Rocky Mountain Hospice, for their love and support, Norco Medical Equipment, and especially our dear friend, Sheril Groves, for making it possible for Mom to live at home the past several months.
Mom will be greatly missed and we will celebrate her life every time we think of her.
