Joshua D. Roberts, 42, of Missoula, passed away from cancer Monday, July 27, 2015, at the family home surrounded by his loving family.
Josh was born June 29, 1973, in Missoula, the son of Karilynn and Doug Cochran-Roberts. As an adult, he lived in Missoula and most recently was supported by the loving staff at the Tulip Lane group home and Day Services Center of the Missoula Developmental Service Corporation (MDSC).
He is survived by his sisters and brother, Anna Roberts of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Angela Hazelbaker of Portland, Oregon, and Sean Rose of DuPont, Washington; as well as loving aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces across Montana and Washington. We are equally thankful for the many members of his MDSC family.
Josh brought smiles to everyone he met, boisterously welcoming people into his life. He was active, keeping everyone who cared for him on their toes. As the most faithful McDonald's fan ever, Josh was always hoping for a van ride that might result in fries and a coke. His simple pleasures included looking through magazines, American and Montana flags, and making sure his shirt matched someone else's in the house. He set a wonderful example for appreciating the small things in life – never complaining about his many medical challenges.
We are grateful to Hospice of Missoula for the kind and caring support that Josh, and our family, received in the last few weeks.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 1 p.m. at the University Congregational Church, 405 University Ave., Missoula. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Missoula Developmental Service Corporation, 1005 Marshall Ave, Missoula, MT, 59801.
The family would love to hear any special stories you have about Josh. Please send them to rememberingjoshroberts@gmail.com.
