Obituary for Joseph G Dorn

Joseph Gerard Dorn, 60 passed away in Missoula, MT on Tuesday July 3rd of natural causes.

Joe had a wonderful life. He was born on August 6, 1957 and was raised in Dayton, Ohio by his two loving parents, John and Joan Dorn. He grew up with his five siblings and many friend, all whom he loved dearly. Joe’s other great loves were fishing and the great outdoors which led him out west in 1976 where he fished, hiked and camped in Montana for more than forty years.
Joe worked as a chef and a cook for more than 30 years in Missoula and Bozeman, Montana. He loved cooking almost as much as he loved to be out fishing on the Blackfoot and Madison Rivers. If his kids were along, Joe was in heaven. His two kids, Andrew and Lindsey, were his best friends.
Joe was a long time member of the American Legion Post 598. He dearly loved his country.
Highlights of his life included the birth of his children, the recent marriage of his daughter, the birth of his precious granddaughter, his love of nature, his art of storytelling, his passion for reading novels,
and watching classic movies. A gifted writer, Joe left us with many writings and manuscripts that he treasured.
Survivors include his son, Andrew (Kelsey) of Phoenix, Arizona and his daughter, Lindsey (Kyle) Murray and their daughter Marvilee of Missoula, Montana. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary (Scott) Price of Charlotte, NC; Louise (Mike) Hicks of Venice, Florida; Lori (Barb) Dorn of Dayton, Ohio; Michael (Patty) Dorn of Dayton, Ohio; along with five nieces: Rachel (Alan) Fullenkamp, Lauren (Jon) Diers, Jackie (Robert) Makishi, Liza (Ryan) McNair and Emma Price. Joe leaves behind many good friends including his best friend Mark (Elaine) Janicki. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Charity.
He is preceded in death by parents Joan and John Dorn and his beloved brother John (Karen) Dorn Jr.. A Christian burial will take place at a date to be determined in Hamilton, Ohio at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

“Rest in Peace Old Man. The bald eagles are still flying high over your favorite fishing holes as we know your spirit will forever.”
