John Henry Greenwood, 72, of Frenchtown passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at home.
He was born on January 4, 1941 in Glasgow, Montana to George and Edith Greenwood. He was raised on the family farm in Glentana, Montana. He attended school in Glentana and Opheim. He graduated from Opheim High School in 1959. He attended Montana State University.
He married Carita Phillips. They had four daughters. They later divorced and he re-married and adopted two sons.
His life dream, which he fulfilled, was to be a truck driver. He made his way to Alaska and drove truck there. He was very proud that he could be a part of the Alaska Pipeline. He worked in Alaska on the North Slope for many years. He later owned his own business.
He was a hardworking man all of his life. He really loved his family and enjoyed hearing how everyone was doing. If you stopped by for a visit his goal was to feed you. He loved to laugh and tell funny jokes and stories. In his younger years he was quite the prankster. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. He was also known for speaking his mind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Greenwood, his daughter Shelley Delp, a great grandson, Tyler Croy Greenwood, and nephew Rodney Greenwood.
Survivors include his three daughters and two sons; Sydney Baker, of El Paso, TX, Sherry Hoselton, Of Kalispell, Sandy Greenwood, of Clarkston, Wash., Dennis Greenwood of Great falls, and Daniel Greenwood of Washington. His brothers and sisters; Ken Greenwood, of Glentana, MT, Linda Sexton, of Shepherd, MT, Jim Greenwood of Huntley, MT, Ed Greenwood of Helena, MT, Helen Inabnit, of Rudyard, MT, plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his very special friends, Sharon miller, Pete Trunkle, Dave Budd, and Annette Hoge.
The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the Frenchtown Medical Clinic and the Frenchtown Fire Department.
Cremation has taken place with the assistance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Glasgow, MT next to his parents.
There will be a time of celebration of John's life at the Frenchtown Pond on June 15th, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Please come with memories and funny stories to share. Please bring a beverage and a dish to share.
