John S. Chaussee Sr., age 67, of Missoula passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born Sept. 5, 1948, in Missoula a son of George and Wilma Chaussee. He grew up in the Rattlesnake where he attended Lincoln Grade School. He also attended Hellgate High School where he set the state record in the 100 yard dash.
In 1966 after high school John volunteered for the U.S. Army. He served two and one half tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne before being sent home wounded in action. John then returned to Missoula where he met and married Judy Fallman. Throughout their 46 years of marriage they raised three sons and had numerous adventures. John was a good son, brother, husband and father. He taught his boys to hunt, fish, work on their rigs, and most importantly, how to be good fathers.
John is survived by his wife and favorite fishing buddy Judy; his sons, Johnny, Chris (Crystal), Josh (Mandi) and his grandkids, Scott, Mikal, Taylor and Carsyn. He is also survived by his little sisters, Lynette (Louis) and Debbie; his uncle Jake (Joan) as well as numerous brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews and too many friends to name.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Missoula. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction and care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
