Joan Jette, 90, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Joan was born on June 27, 1931, to Walter and Mildred Kidder in Pueblo, CO. The family moved to Montana where Joan attended schools in Missoula, Hamilton, and Victor. Joan graduated from Victor High School in 1949. She married Milton Ziebarth and they had two sons, Dennis and Donald. Milton passed away in a logging accident.
Joan later married Edward J. Jette. They were married for 33 years until his passing in 1986. They were blessed with three more sons, Jerry, Ed, and John.
Joan’s proudest achievement was being the mother of five active sons. She worked hard to provide a good home, which included years of canning garden produce and providing many delicious meals for her hungry crew. She worked for the University of Montana print shop for 20 years.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and she also volunteered as the office manager of the Missoula Senior Center for 20 years. She enjoyed her card clubs and attending plays at the Missoula Children's Theatre. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she participated in Caring and Sharing, baking pies and making soup for annual fundraisers, and counting the weekly collections. Joan was also a big supporter of the Lady Griz!
Joan is a survived by her son Jerry (Barb) and grandsons Ryan and Brett; son Ed and grandson Jeremy (Tiffany) and great-grandchildren Jasmine, Jordyn and Tyler. She is also survived by her brothers Roy Kidder (Judy) and Gary Kidder (Kathy), and sister-in-law Pat Kidder. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mildred Kidder; her husbands, Milton Ziebarth and Edward Jette; her sons, Dennis, Donald, and John; and her brothers, DuWayne Lipska and Dale Kidder.
The family would like to thank the staff at BeeHive Homes of Missoula and Encompass Health Hospice for their compassionate care of Joan in her final days.
Contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, the Missoula Children’s Theatre, or a charity of one’s choice.
