Jeannette Violet Gratwohl, 92, of Missoula went to see our Lord on her favorite holiday, Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024 at St. Patrick Hospital.
Jeannette was born on September 17, 1931 in Billings to John and Emily Hamilton. As a young girl she spent her summers experiencing the natural wonders that only living in Cooke City could provide. Later her stepfather Richard Roach became an important presence in her life. Throughout her great life, Mom cherished day road trips and picnics with chicken and homemade potato salad. Jeannette was a fantastic cook. Her love for puzzles and watching old movies never ceased. Jeannette was educated at Laurel High School.
On March 10, 1951, Jeannette married George Gratwohl. The two blessed the world with three beautiful daughters, Debbie, Rhonda & Annette.
Jeannette spent the 1970’s and 80’s as a foreman at Pierce Packing in Billings. In 1998, she moved to Missoula to be closer to family and there she became the property manager at the Camelot apartments. During this time Jeannette was affectionately given the name “Granny”. Granny took this name and role and absolutely perfected it. She would travel the state between Laurel and Missoula with her dogs Cissie and Britt to celebrate many birthdays and holidays.
Granny was a special gift from God as a Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother-in-law, Aunt and Friend.
She will be dearly missed. Mom, we all Love You and have comfort knowing you are in Heaven with our Lord.
Survivors include her three Daughters and their families, Debbie (Gordon) Campbell, Rhonda (Tom) Poindexter and Annette (Scott) Kunn. Two Sisters, Yvonne (Orville) Johnson and Marilee (Greg) Paquette. Eight Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
