(0) CommentsMISSOULA – Jean A. Prchlik, loving and faithful servant of God, died in peaceful sleep Friday, May 17, 2013, at Riverside Health Care Center. She was 95 years young.
She was the sixth of 10 children. Jean was born March 23, 1918, in Chicago to Polish immigrants Albert and Josephine (Drwal) Mlekodaj. When a young child, her family moved to the northern Indiana farming community of Knox, where she lived until 2006. She then moved to Missoula to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Roger Wegner.
Jean was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to so many.
A devout Catholic, Jean lived her faith in service to others through her many parish church ministries and community volunteer work in Knox.
Always a true "farm girl" at heart, Jean enjoyed being outdoors in the sun tending her garden and yard. A weed never missed her eye. She loved playing cards and board games. She shared many a lively pinochle games with her husband and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J.; son, Joseph C.; and daughter, Pamela Prchlik Abbott. She is survived by Pat and Roger Wegner of Missoula and her brother, Leo Mlekodaj (Hanna) of Knox, Ind. She also leaves 20 nieces and nephews and their extended families.
Dr. Michael Priddy and staff provided tender long-term medical care to Jean. Personnel of Home Instead were her afternoon companions for three years, and Edgewood Vista provided loving care during her residence there. The staffs of Riverside Health Care Center and Partners Hospice were compassionate caregivers as she declined. Words are not adequate to express our heartfelt thanks to all involved in her care.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 24, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated this summer in Missoula at Blessed Trinity Catholic Community, where Jean was so warmly welcomed as a member. An announcement will be published.
Memorials may be made to Blessed Trinity Catholic Community, 1475 Eaton St., Missoula, MT 59801, or Partners Hospice, 2687 Palmer Street, Suite B, Missoula, MT 59808.
