Jean Elizabeth Buchanan

Jean Elizabeth Buchanan passed away October 27, 2016 peacefully at home with family and
friends by her side. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly. Jean was the first person to
offer you a cup of coffee, or three, or a sandwich on an afternoon visit. She was always taking
care of everyone around her and put everyone else first before herself.
Jean was born March 19, 1938 to Robert and Agnes McMahan. Jean was raised in Garnet until
she was six years old. Then the family moved to Drummond, MT.
Jean married John “Buck” Buchanan on September 27, 1956 in Missoula.They were lucky
enough to spend sixty long happy years together traveling the world. Jean worked for Stover &
Stover accounting for many years and then Meadow Gold Dairy before retiring.
After retirement Jean & Buck renovated her childhood family homestead. Here they loved to go
four-wheeling, spend time in Garnet and enjoy time outdoors with their well fed birds and deer.
This home became the gathering spot for many long afternoons visiting and the starting point for
many Sunday afternoon rides.
Jean is preceded in death by both her parents.
Jean is survived by her husband Buck, daughters Jesse (and Rick Danner, & grandchildren
Samantha and Travis Danner), Judy (and John Bukovatz), grandchildren Jennifer (and Andy
Huppert), Jack (and Shelby Bukovatz), and brother Robert (and Jean McMahan), as well as
many nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice Compassus.
A memorial graveside service will be held At New Chicago Cemetery, Drummond, MT on
Tuesday, November 1 at 1:00 with a luncheon to follow at Drummond Community Center.
