Jim Armpriest, 79, of Missoula, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at home with his wife by his side. Jim passed away after having battled Parkinson's disease for many years.
Jim was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Medford, Oregon, to Ernest and Jessie (McLin) Armpriest. At a young age, Jim enlisted in the Navy and made this his career. He proudly served 23 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and also served in Guam, Alaska, San Diego and Virginia.
After retirement he moved to Arkansas and was employed by Hiram Walker for many years. Jim finally had to retire from Hiram Walker due to health issues. He met some wonderful friends while working there, and he continued to maintain that friendship until his death.
In 2005, Jim met and fell in love with Maureen Jacobsen they were married July 23, 2010. Together they enjoyed traveling together in the motor home and spending time in Nashville and Arkansas visiting their friends. Their love was a special bond that will never be replaced.
Jim enjoyed classic cars and classic car shows. His friends would come to his home in Arkansas and help him tinker on old cars, and he would do the same to help them. He also was very knowledgeable about computers and loved to send emails back and forth between Arkansas and Montana to keep in touch with friends and family. Even though he had Parkinson's, he still would do his best to keep in touch with those he cared about.
Jim was a kind soul who never argued with anyone and was always ready with a smile. When he couldn't smile at times due to his disease, you could always ask for a "thumbs up" and he would gladly give one. He was a generous, caring man who loved everybody in his life including the kitty cats that he and Maureen shared. Yuri was his favorite "baby."
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Jessie Armpriest.
Jim is survived by his loving wife and caretaker, Maureen; stepdaughter, Joanne Jacobsen; and step-granddaughter, Haley Morton. Jim is survived by daughter, Heather English, and granddaughter, Hannah Armstrong; and son, Anthony Armpriest (Victoria), and grandchildren, Giovani, Alejandro, Isabella and Amelia.
Per Jim's request, there will be no funeral services. A private family graveside service will be held.
Thank you to all who made Jim's passing so peaceful.
Arrangements are in the care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
