Jack Lloyd Simmons, 88, of Missoula, Montana passed away on April 3, 2018 at home of natural causes.
He was born on September 4, 1929 in Nampa, Idaho to Clarence and Regina Simmons. He attended grade school and high school in Nampa before starting his college education with one year at the College of Idaho followed by one year at the University of Idaho. His college education was put on hold by enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1951. He was trained to be an aircraft and engine mechanic before moving on to the role of instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Jack returned to school at the University of Idaho obtaining his degree in Electrical Engineering.
On February 18, 1961 he married Elisabeth M. Sheink in San Francisco, California. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage together. The couple lived in San Rafael, California until Jack retired and they moved to Meridian, Idaho in 1993. Jack and Elisabeth moved to Missoula, Montana in 2008 to be close to one of their sons and two of their Grandchildren.
Jack worked for Pacific Gas and Electric in San Francisco for 35 years. He enjoyed large house projects often enlisting his not so willing sons to participate. He was an excellent mechanic and rarely used the services of an auto shop. Jack enjoyed camping and fishing greatly looking forward to his summer trips with his family. He was an avid baseball and football fan spending many days and nights with his family watching the Giants and 49ers at Candlestick Park. It was a great joy for him to see the Giants win a World Series after so many years of being a fan.
Survivors include his wife, Elisabeth, of Missoula, Montana; two sons, Dave of Novato, California and Rick, of Missoula; nephews Michael of Nampa, ID, and Thomas of Pocatello, ID; niece, Joan of Boise, ID, grandchildren Brandon of San Rafael, CA, Nick and Alex of Missoula.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday April 9 at Garden City Funeral Home with reception to follow.
