Jack Rodney Lane, age 86, was born December 6, 1927 in Wallace, ID to Thomas W. and Ethel Lane and departed this world on May 27, 2014. Jack was raised around Wallace. An adventurous lad, he shipped off to Alaska at age 12 to work in a cannery. He joined the Army at age 17 and served his country (1945-1947) in World War II. After being injured in Germany, he was honorably discharged in 1947. Jack received an honorary high school diploma in recognition of being a World War II veteran for personal sacrifices and devoted service and his lifetime of learning and achievement. Jack recently participated in the Big Sky Honor Flight to Washington DC. Jack and Emma Jean were married in Superior, MT. In October, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Jack spent many years as a miner traveling all over the country. Other enterprises he engaged were farming, restaurant owner/operator, and numerous small business ventures. He was an avid antique collector and loved going to auctions and meeting people. Jack also had a daughter, Marla, by a previous marriage.
A memorial service for Emma Jean and Jack Lane will be held on Wed June 4, 2014 at the Methodist Church in Superior, MT at 1pm.
