Harold was the oldest son born to James H. And Treva R. Bell, on April 9, 1927, in Payette, Idaho.
He grew up in Idaho doing odd jobs until he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1949. On July 24, 1949, he married H. Joanne Smith. He drove log truck for Owen S. Smith in Grangeville, Idaho, until he moved his wife and three children to Missoula on Dec. 18, 1961. He was an active member of the Mount Idaho Masonic Lodge No. 9 in Grangeville. He sold his truck and retired in 1988. After a short retirement, he went to work as a dump truck driver for Jim Phillips.
He spent a great deal of time traveling with his grandchildren, taking them to different Masonic functions across the state.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Monte Means; and his only grandson, Dana Scott Copenhaver.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joanne; son, Richard (Pam) Bell; daughter, Jacki (Bruce) Copenhaver; brothers, Roland (Lois) Bell, Lyle (Beverly) Bell; sister, Treva Runyon; granddaughters, Cortney (Travis) Franklin of Huntsville, Texas, Lauri Copenhaver of Lewisville, Texas, Tami Copenhaver and Kayce (Justin) Harcrow; and great-grandchildren, Katarina, KayLynne and Bryce Copenhaver, and Karson and Mackenzie Harcrow.
The service will be held Saturday, March 15, at 2 p.m. in the Midtown Church conference room, 1748 South Ave. W. There will be a reception following.
Arrangements are by Cremation and Burial Society of theâ�,��**Rockies.
