Ivalo went home to the Lord on Tuesday morning November 16, 2021.
Ivalo Veloris Stern, daughter of Albert and Elsie (Sackman) Stern, was born April 9, 1940 in Terry, Montana. She was the oldest of six children and grew up on the family farm in Fallon, Montana. At the age of 16, Ivalo was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Because of the difficulties with her illness, she was unable to complete her high school years in Terry. In 1958, the family moved to Missoula where Ivalo was able to finish high school and graduated from Sentinel High School in 1959.
The majority of her life was spent living at home under the care of her parents and sister. In 2002, after the death of her mother, Ivalo moved to Riverside Health and Rehabilitation; and lived there until her death. She was happy at Riverside and called it her home. She enjoyed playing bingo, folding towels, and all the Riverside activities. She loved to sit on the patio and get her “Summer Tan”. She liked the staff, and they took good care of her. Ivalo’s faith in God sustained her throughout her entire life. She was loving, kind, and never complained about the life she lived. Ivalo loved the Lord and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Ivalo is survived by her siblings, Marvin (Sherry) Stern; Ronald (Cheryl) Stern; Delwin (Joanne) Stern; Marietta Stern; Ardina (Tom) Stobie; nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elsie Stern.
A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Garden City Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow services at the funeral home in the Missoula City Cemetery.
