Irene Sloan
On the morning of July 8th, 2016 the lord and many loved ones that preceded her welcomed her home. She passed away at Bee Hive Homes of natural causes. She was 90 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was born January 18th, 1926 to Louise and Thomas Petroff. She was one of twelve children. She was raised in Bonner, Montana. As a young lady she got a job at the Margaret hotel in Bonner. One day a handsome sailor named Leon Sloan came to her place of work and rented a room. THE REST IS HISTORY. They were married March 29th, 1947. They were together almost 60 years until Leon’s passing in 2006.
Irene loved her family, taking care of her beautiful flowers in her yard. She took a lot of pride in her home. She enjoyed playing cards and having the family over at holidays. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband. They were always together. You could often find them enjoying date night at the PRESS BOX in Missoula. They truly enjoyed their nickel keno. It wasn’t the little money they won or the prizes they took home. It was their together time. That was their happiness. They didn’t have social media or cell phones they had each other. Life was simple too just hanging out at their Bonner residence listening to Josh Turner Cd’s and watching birds outside the living room window.
She was preceded in death by four of her brothers: Jim, Ted, John, and Dick Petroff. Two of her sisters: Della LaRocque, and Ruby Backlin, her adored husband Leon, and her beautiful daughter Louise Cranston. Surviving children: Danny Cranston (husband of Louise) Jo Diefel (Randy) Nancy Olmert and Leon Sloan Jr. Grand children: Kevin Cranston, Melissa Timmer, Bernadine Mac Lean, Launi, Issac, and Jennifer Salcido. Great Grand Children: Megan Buetow, Jordan & Allison Moe, Alexis & Sebastian Salcido. Sisters: Janet Furrer, Nina Seaman, Mary Kallis. Brothers: Tom & Hank Petroff.
Visitation will be from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Garden City Funeral Home on July 15th 2016 with service to start at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at the Missoula City Cemetery. A reception will follow at Garden City Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Partners in Home Care Hospice.
