Ed asked her to marry but before she said yes, she had to see his home, his beloved West. Ed had been discharged and had returned to Deer Lodge, MT. She bought a one way ticket to Deer Lodge and soon accepted his proposal. They were married August 7, 1948 in Deer Lodge, MT.
Irene taught school in Bristol, RI, Warren, RI, Deer Lodge, MT, Malta, MT, and at Jefferson School in Missoula, MT. She retired in 1987 after 38 years of teaching her little ones. Irene and Ed enjoyed retirement with travel and rest.
