She was born on August 10, 1938, to E. Harold and Dollie Haines McLaughlin in Lewiston Idaho.
She would reminisce of fond memories chasing the fire truck to see the fires, ding dong ditching, camping and much more. She graduated from Orofino High School in 1956. She started college at Walla Walla, Washington then finished her education at Missoula College, earning her LPN degree. She worked at Community Hospital in both med/surg and labor and delivery departments.
Ireane met William “Bill” Nelson in early 1964. They were married on March 7, 1964 in Spokane, Washington. They made their home in Greenough where they were blessed with three daughters Teresa, Tammy and Billie Jo.
She was very involved in the Blackfoot Valley, including Sunset School where she played piano for Christmas programs, was a TA and a janitor. She was a 4H leader, involved with several area churches and was Secretary for the Greenough Potomac Fire Department.
After the death of her husband she moved to Missoula. She worked for Missoula Aging Services and was actively involved in her home church, as well as attended her grandchildren’s events.
She enjoyed her nativity scenes, music, her television that ranged from church, a good mystery / detective show or WWE. She loved playing cards and board games. She taught all of her grandchildren how to play Monopoly and taught them the art of winning and losing gracefully. She enjoyed her Cheetos and Hershey Bars. Most important in Ireane’s life was her love and devotion to her Savior Jesus Christ, and to her family and friends.
