Henry "Hank" Erickson

Henry “Hank” Erickson, 76 of Missoula, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 with his family by his side.

He was born April 7, 1947 in Missoula to Erick and Esther Helen Erickson. He grew up in the family home on the North Side, attending Willard Grade School and graduating from Missoula County High School.  He could be found raising ruckus with those who would become lifelong friends, and forever a Northsider at heart.

Upon graduation, we went to work for Champion International lumber mill in Missoula. He worked as a millwright until the Missoula location was shut down. He then transitioned to the Champion Mill in Bonner, which later became Stimpson Lumber. He worked as a millwright and machinist at Stimpson until his retirement.

He married the love of his life, Paula Zaharko, on August 5, 1972, after a courtship that began on a blind date. Together they built their home and family in Missoula. They were blessed with two daughters, Misty and Tammy in the early years of their marriage. Paula unexpectedly passed in June 2016, however his love for her was infinite. He reveled in being a father, and could be seen watching Misty and Tammy bowl, play softball, and other outdoor activities.

He loved working with his hands and always had a project in the works. From making picnic tables, building wood stoves, desks, toy boxes, and welding just about anything is where he could be found. He also enjoyed doing bodywork and painting in his garage.

He also had a knack for cribbage and spent many afternoons playing with friends or teaching others how to play and get that elusive 29 hand. As time went on, just getting around became difficult, but he could still be seen on his four-wheeler running around the neighborhood, and having a cold beer with friends.

He is proceeded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his two daughters, Misty (Jack) Spooner, and Tammy Erickson, (Roy Lindsley). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Steven, Madison and Mason, and one great granddaughter, Aubry, his little buddy, and cartoon date.

A celebration of Life will be held at Orchard Homes Country Life Club on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 3-7pm.  

We will miss you forever and love you always.  We will see you “On the flip side”.
