Helena "Helen" Sheets, 89, of Drummond, passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Riverside Health Care, of natural causes.
Mom was born on Nov. 5, 1928, in Richey, to Maria and David Knopp. She grew up on a farm by Powell, Wyoming, later moving to Billings. Mom met and married John Sheets on April 5, 1947. They moved to Seeley Lake in 1950, moving several times following Dad's logging jobs. In 1963 they moved to Clinton where they lived for 37 years. Mom and Dad were married 52 years before he passed in 1999. Mom moved to Drummond in 2000.
In 2015 Mom had a stroke and ended up moving into Riverside Health Center. Mom enjoyed her time at Riverside very much, getting very involved with activities. Mom was blessed with a wonderful roommate named Evelyn. They became close friends instantly. Evelyn was going to be 104 in January. We always wondered how the other one would do if one of them passed away. We didn't have to worry very long as Evelyn passed away on the Wednesday after Mom. Mom was much-loved by Riverside staff and they spoiled and cared for her very well.
Mom was an amazing cook (chicken and dumplings, yum), loved to dance, sing at churches, weddings and plays (she had a beautiful voice). Mostly she was a wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.
Mom is survived by her children: Dave Sheets, Karen Souders, Judy Sheets, Kim Sheets (Dean). Grandchildren: Jonathan Sheets (Gen), Davy Sheets (Janice), Joshua Ailport (Barb), Justin (Jeff), Brandon Sheets and his brother LJ Charles, Dana Sheets. Great-grandchildren: Rocky Ailport, Trygg Sheets, John Ray Ailport, Asher Sheets. Daughter-in-law Amy Sheets and her son Cody, members of Mom/Dad's families, and her entire Riverside family.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Dennis, son-in-law Dick Souders, siblings and their spouses, Ruth (Harry), Tina (Rudy), Jake (Dorothy), members of Mom/Dad's families, and special friend Evelyn Dunlap.
Thank-you to Sue and Skip, Evelyn's daughter and son-in-law. Skip teased those two so much and they absolutely loved it.
We will have a funeral service for Mom in the spring. Mom didn't want people driving on winter roads. Hope to see you in the spring.
