– Helen, 96 of Missoula, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, of natural causes.
She was born in Seattle, Washington, to Harry and Sofia Clifford and as a young girl lived in the Pacific Northwest, including Astoria, Oregon.
Most of her adult life, she was married to Vern Ockert (longtime employee of Hoerner Waldorf pulp and paper mill) and lived in Frenchtown, Desert Hot Springs, California, Yuma and Wellton, Arizona.

She was a member of Eastern Star, co founder of Frenchtown Community Church, dispatcher for Frenchtown volunteer Fire Department and most recently, a volunteer where she lived, the Missoula Manor. She was an avid pinochle and Scrabble player and took pride in her gardening and canning.
Her husband Vern Ockert and son Bob Fryday predeceased her.
She is survived by five children, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Missoula Food Bank, Missoula Manor Endowment or the Humane Society of Western Montana.
