– Helen (Peterson) Cole, 96, of Missoula, passed away at her home Friday, Dec. 20, 2013.
She was born Sept. 23, 1917, as the only child of Herbert and Irene Peterson in Carter. When Helen was 1 year old, her father Burt died from the flu epidemic of 1918. Helen moved to Great Falls with her mother and attended school, graduating from Great Falls High School. She was part of Great Falls High School's first four-year graduating class.
In 1940, she married William Cole and they enjoyed 43 years together until Bill passed away in 1983. Together they owned and operated Wilson Cole Furniture until retirement in 1976. In 2005, she moved to Missoula to be closer to family. Helen enjoyed playing cards and visiting with the new friends she met at the Clark Fork Riverside.
She is survived by two sons, James (Marilee) Cole of Port Angeles, Wash., and Ron (Valerie) Cole of Billings; and grandchildren, Sally (Dave) Uranich of Port Angeles, Robert Cole of Murphys, Calif., Regan Cole of North Hills, Calif., Eric (Jody) Solander of Palm Desert, Calif., and Brad Solander of LaQuinta, Calif. She was preceded by her husband, Bill; and son, Robert.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Great Falls at later date and will be announced. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory
