Obituary for Harold "Kent" Ferguson

Harold "Kent" Ferguson of Missoula passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, of natural causes, surrounded by his family. He was 72 years old.

Kent was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Missoula to Arvin and Jewell Ferguson. He had an older brother, James. He attended Central Grade School, graduated from Missoula County High School in 1961 and went on to attend the University of Montana for a short time. He received two degrees after graduating from both Bethany College in Santa Cruz, California, and Southern California College in Costa Mesa, California.

In 1970 Kent married JoAnn Ault and they had two children, Kim and Krystal. Kent and JoAnn raised their family in the Rattlesnake, where they owned and operated Royal Manor Nursing home for 35 years. He also owned nursing homes in Hot Springs, Polson and Stevensville.

Kent had a deep love for Flathead Lake, Glacier Park, traveling the world everywhere from Brazil to Israel, and taking his family on many motor home adventures across the country.

He was an avid fisherman, sports fan, basketball player, and rarely missed a football or basketball game of his beloved Montana Grizzlies. The most important part of his life was his deep faith in Christ, his church, his family and his sweet granddaughters.

Kent was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Lannie Erickson and Don Ault.

Kent is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughter Krystal, husband Rory and granddaughters Lily and Olive, all of Missoula; daughter Kim (Paul) Goodman and granddaughters Timry and Natell, all of Helena; brother Jim Ferguson of Dayton; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lois Erickson of Missoula, Dave and Barbara Ault of Missoula, and Jim and Linda Ault of Missoula, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Christian Life Center.
