Hampton "Jay" Brand

– Hampton “Jay” Brand died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016.

Jay was born on Dec. 16, 1949, to James and Iris Brand in San Juan, Utah.

Following high school graduation Jay enlisted in the army and was honorably discharged in 1977.

Jay worked in several different fields throughout his lifetime, but his passion was logging and working with timber. Most recently Jay manufactured his own sawmill design, Brand X Sawmills.

Jay enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and friends. His early departure will be felt by many people in the small community that he called home for the past 20 years.

On June 18, 1973, Jay married Mary Lou Rothenbuhler in Bellingham, Washington. This marriage resulted in four children, Jayson, Dennie, Jamie and Krista.

On Oct. 9, 1999, Jay married Vicki Sellner in Condon. This marriage added two stepchildren, Gwen and Jonah Rosen to Jay’s family, as well as two additional daughters, Becky and Hannah.

Jay is survived by his stepmother, Betty Brand of Washington state; a brother, Lyle Brand of Wyoming and a sister, Linda Brand of Washington state; his children Jayson (Rachel) Brand of Lewistown, Dennie Ellestad of Lewistown, Jamie (Rett) Goss of Grass Range, Krista Brand of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Gwen Rosen of Kalispell, Jonah Rosen of Missoula, Becky Brand of Bozeman and Hannah Brand of Condon; his grandchildren, Austin, Courtney, Ashley and Chelsie Brand of Lewistown, Katie Ellestad of Lewistown and Nola and Kallie Goss of Grass Range.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, James and Iris Brand.

Cremation has taken place and his remains will be spread by his family on the land he loved.
