Gregory (Greg) M. Grossi past away suddenly at his home in Charlo, Montana on September 14, 2022.
Greg was born in Royal Oak, Michigan May 17, 1973. After two years at Michigan State University he ventured west. He graduated from the University of Montana with a forestry degree. He later changed careers moving into the tech world as a software engineer.
Greg loved the outdoors. Some of his happiest and most peaceful times were when he was enjoying nature. He loved fly fishing at Rock Creek, snowboarding in Glacier on the first day when the Going-to-the-sun Road opened with his buddies, hiking the mountains surrounding Missoula and western Montana. Camping with his kids. Canoeing with his dog, Sunny. Riding his motorcycle finding new places to explore.
His recent text to his mom shows his awe of Mother Nature …
“Sorry I keep sending all these texts but weird stuff has been going lately. Last night we had like the biggest craziest lightning thunder rain hail, dogs, cats storm. All night long. What a summer, I’m reading all the posts on Facebook from the mission valley group and so many people are talking about how they limped their gardens along all summer and then this storm took out peoples gardens, the wind and hail was intense. Bridget was so scared and wouldn’t leave my side. I love extreme weather, great reminder that mutter nature sets all the rules. ߘ “
The family is planning a celebration of his life at a future date and believe the best way to honor and remember Greg now is to take a moment walking in a park or mountain trail, fishing or whatever you love to do out of doors and think of him.
Greg was devoted to his family, always offered a helping hand or shoulder to lean on and just taking the time to listen.
Greg is survived by his son Otto, daughter Elliott, his mom and stepdad Karen and Patrick Howell, his father and stepmother Mark and Barbara Grossi. His brothers , David (Jennifer), Kevin (Liz), sister, Erin. His nieces, Olive, Juniper and Willow. Nephews, Grant and Vincent. His uncles, aunts and cousins and many friends. His beloved dogs, Sonny and Bridget.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Mary McMurray and Anthony Grossi and Amelia Landmesser.
Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many families and friends for the outpouring of love we have received.
